If you are someone who has always dreamed how great it will be working from home, picking your own hours and all the freedom it brings? I was too, then I got it and to my suprise suddenly all those times spend socialising with your work mates didn’t seem that bad. Yes you to have discovered the dark side of working on your own which brings me to masterminds.
The internet it as such a stage now days that there are more than likely others who live near you that do the same and you might be suprised at just how easy they are to find. Here are some ways to connect with your local like-minded folk:
- Do a facebook search for those with the same interests (internet marketing, business)
- Join a meetup.com group
- Ask around, friends and family
Once you find someone they know people and before you know it you are part of the tribe.
After you have a few people hold a weekly, fortnightly or monthly meeting, but beware there are several dips that you have to cross that have to potential to derail your masterminding success. Here are a few:
- You must be the organiser (emailing everyone, getting rsvp, organising the venue)
- There will be some times when no one will show, this is a minor setback. Host the next one as usual
- Make sure everyone gets value. There are value givers and value suckers, you need at least a 2:1 ratio to give it a chance of working.
- Chair the meeting yourself. If someone hogs the air-time gently ask them to shut up so the next person can speak
This goes without saying but try to get as many successful people and if possible keep it to only successful people in the internet marketing space.
Another great idea is to hold a poker game, this way even the person with the least to say can still get something out of it. And remember you are in it for like minded people to talk to and hang out with, its not going to happen by itself!
