Ben Brandes Timeline
In high school I was lucky enough to be introduced to Robert Kiyosaki information through my parents. I learned basic financial vocabulary from playing Cashflow 101 and Cashflow 202 the board game. From then on I was set on owning my own business.
I finished highschool and was never planning to go to University – I believed Id be able to learn what I needed from practical experience, online research and finding mentors.
So I started working putting up fences, it was a physical job which I enjoyed.
Time for the mindset shift..
During this period I was investing hundreds of hours listening to personal development to get my mindset right. I listened to everything I could get my hands on relating to the laws of the universe, success. I really enjoyed The Science of Getting Rich program by Bob Proctor.
During this stage of my life I let go of a lot of crap from my past and improved my thought processes and beliefs through mindset courses and also going to personal development seminars. (Obviously it’s an ongoing process)
The currency trading disaster
I then decided to have a go at trading forex and commodities. It was fun paper trading seeing all the profits, I went live and that didn’t work out, I actually lost about $8 000 I had saved from working a full time job. Great learning experience though – I realised trading isn’t my thing.
My first business
I then started my own business helping people quit cigarettes using advanced hypnosis combined with Neuro Linguistic Programming, great success rate, descent money and very rewarding helping people. I soon got sick of repeating the same thing and my mind started focusing on expansion.
Billionaire Bootcamp and business expansion!
I went to a course called Billionaire Bootcamp with Chris Howard, that was a 7 day intense course that literally changed my beliefs around money, wealth and business. It is by far the most intense thing I have ever done. I was going on 3-4 hours sleep per night the whole week.
After that course I then decided to expand the business by doing online lead generation. I was getting the majority of my clients from word of mouth and online advertising.
I improve the lead generation process then systemized it. I then contacted specialised around Australia in other states that was doing the same process as me to help people quit smoking. I set up contracts with them, started getting them clients and received a commission for each.
At this time I was doing social media mentoring to help people get started online. I soon didn’t like that as I felt as though I needed to be online every single time they needed help. The whole reason I started internet marketing was to have more time to do other things.
Outsourcing for the first time
While doing the quitin60 business I was also working on an online lead generation system for network marketers. The idea was to teach people internet marketing strategies to generate leads, and then let them use the lead generation system to manage their calls and lead followup.
All of that also tied up with an affiliate program. It got messy, I went through 3 different teams of programmers and because the first programmers didn’t include comments no one wanted to touch it.
This was the first time I outsourced – I even paid someone who had outsourced many projects $1000 to help me through the process which still ended up a mess. I think all up that lesson cost me around $4000.
After all that it never got completed, it got too messy and I ended up ditching it. It was a HUGE learning experiencefor me and has helped save much more than I ‘invested” in the learning I got! J
That project was supposed to take 10 days and it still wasn’t done after 3 months of headaches. Since then I decided to master outsourcing to get more leverage, save me time and outsource things I dont know how to do.
Mastering outsourcing
My aim – to master outsourcing! I started outsourcing to php programmers and kept learning and learning though dealing with them. I then moved on to article writers and full time virtual assistants creating various systems for them to implement.
From going through that experience I then ventured out to focus more on blogging. Content is usually the hardest part to create, after getting thousands of unique articles written I realised it was time to start using some of those for blogging.
Through the process it has led me to helping many others systemize and outsource their business. I have made many mistakes with outsourcing and learned from them by experience. I am now in the position to pass on that wisdom and help others do it correctly from the beginning.
I now travel the world with my girlfriend and a couple good friends of mine, we have fun, meet some of the best internet marketers in the world and absolutely love life.
It takes time – it was well worth the effort and I look forward to what the future will bring!
